Round 4 v Maitland at Maitland

Our 19s fought a long hard fight. The boys showed good go forward, and showed superb team solidarity. The boys played a fiery game at times but came away with the points.

Open Grade were on the back foot from very early on. To their credit they put in positive 20 throughout the middle of the game but unfortunately  Maitland were far to impressive in attack and won comfortably

Reserve Grade...another close match with the boys playing good solid footy.  The commitment showed by the players was great. strong up front and solid in defence. The boys do love gettibg the two points.

First Grade. .... what a nail biter!! 40 minute delay in play due to an unfortunate accident which found Maitlands Dan A with a broken AND dislocated ankle. He's expecting to get home in the next day or two after undergoing surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery.
The scores being locked up at 10 all after the break in play we experienced some very exciting footy. Both teams eager to get over the line for the win. with only minutes left in the game. ..Cessnock dummied off the play the ball and went in judt right of the uprights... and Mendyk knocked it over to seal the deal!

Round 3......v Lakes.... I'll come back to that!

Round 2 saw Cessnock travel to Central to take on the Butcher Boys
under 19s started strong and managed to come away with a draw.
still lots of work to do and the return of the representative players to the side will make a positive impact on the team. There have been some awesome 17s players who have stepped up to help out. They're showing great potential and we appreciate their help.
Congratulations to the boys playing with the Newcastle Rebels. Good Luck!

Open Grade were in the race and showing positive signs of good footy but during the clash the incurred an unbelievable hit of injuries. The boys didnt get up but they definitely showed they can be a side who are gelling. .. hoping all injured players are on the mend soon.

Reserve Grade came away with a win. The boys went out and did what they did and came away with the two points. Great leadership and directions on the field as well as being the better team on the day. Congrats boys...lets do it again this week!

First Grade had a very disappointing loss. speaking with a couple of the Senior players after the game ...I heard... pride and the hurt of the loss was a lot worse than any bumps bruises and hits from the game. These guys do not pull on the jersey to walk away not being the dominant winning side. I think the sting of this loss will make the boys train a little bit harder and work a bit more for the win.

The Hunter Stars also played on the weekend.
check out their Facebook page for scores and info on when they play.

Round 1 saw the Mighty Goannas at home against the Macquarie Scorpions
All Lower grades came away with disappointing losses, while First Grade had a Good Win.

Josh Dimmock was awarded First Grade Coaches Award

A fair turnout to the first game of the season with an excellent show of support to our First Old Boys Day.
Congratulations to the hard work and commitment shown by the Old Boys.
