ROUND 6 - Cessnock -v- Lakes
Lakes def Cessnock
Sunday 19th May 2013.

Well another week behind us and no points on the table to show for our efforts , we're finding ways to lose games not the opposition winning games.
In saying that, I think our defensive effort as team was alot better than it has been, but we still need to improve.

Behind 10- 6 at halftime , Lakes scoring 1 try in the second half to round out the scoring.
Centre Luke Turner scored our only try and had a solid game allround.
Brent Colley and Kyle Ridgeway were strong in the forwards. Big Matt Fernance had a good second half really dinting the Lakes defensive line when he took the ball forward .
This week we take on central at home , and need to find that winning culture ,

Congratulations to our other sides last week .

ROUND 5 - Cessnock -v- Port Stephens
Sharks def Cessnock
Saturday 11th May 2013.

If games only went till half time we would be leading the comp.
Again we lead a tteh break, but let it skip in the second stanza. Its now a confidence issue. The boys must start believing in themselves and their ability. They have already shown me in their first half performances that they can put it to any side in this comp, we just need to learn how to go on with it. Mentions on the day to Hughie Grant, Jack Fitz, Luke Turner and Luke Campbell.
This week its Lakes away and a kickstart to our campaign. Believe in yourselves and each other.

ROUND 4- Cessnock -v- Maitland
Maitland def Cessnock
Saturday 4th May 2013

Our Pre Game Preparation was poor before our clash with the Pickers and it showed early in the game that we hadnít turned up to play, but to the boys credit, we only trialled by 6 points to 4 at half time. The game remained in the balance with the score at 12 points to 8 with less than 5 to go.
We had opportunities, but we never put them away. Maitland putting on 10 points in the final 3 minutes blowing the score out.
Fabian Dunstan scored 2 tries and had another disallowed.
Mick Deacon and Joey Gay worked hard, we now need to get ourselves up to play the sharks, who are travelling well, knocking over some prized scalps.

ROUND 3 - BYE

ROUND 2- Cessnock -v- Macquarie Scorpions
Macquarie 18 def Cessnock 12
Saturday 20th April 2013

On a water logged Cessnock Sports Ground,  the Regggies have come away with no  competion points after the Macquarie Scorpsps snuck and our guard in the 2nd half to defeat us 18 -  12.

Even though disappointed with the final result I found some positives to take out of the match .
Matt Farrrance in his first hitout for the club, I thought he was outstanding in the frontrow along with fellow new recruit Kyle Ridgeway , neither lads shirking any workload.

We could have turned it up after Macquarie got out to 18 - 12 with 20 to play but we didnt , we kept in the grind and was a little unlucky not to post some more points , But thats footy.we have the bye this weekend so we should defintly get the 2 .

Our preparation has already started for our next game against our neighbours the Pickers .
Awards on the weekend went to Pom coaches award, Matt Farrrance best forward, best back stevo, and players player to big Matty .

I think we should have given an award to Spot Mitchell who ran the water and delivered messsages for 4 games of footy .

ROUND 1 - Cessnock -v- Western Suburbs
West 32 def Cessnock 10
Sunday 14th April 2013

Taking on the Maggots at Harker is never an easy task , We started well completing our sets and doing the little things right , even though our disipline wasnt great giving away 7 penalaties in the first half , we defended our line well  letting wests score only 1 try in the first half , with us scoring 2 tries courtesy of Pom (Joe Gay ) and Simmi one of our New Zealand recruits who has a tonne of potential.

The 'Nock boys went to the break leading 10 points to 4. After the interval we had 2 missed opportunities to score , i think this would have put alot of pressure on the opposition and they would have to had started playing catch up footy , but as West do so well they put on back to back trys and lead 16  -10 , the boys tried hard the last 10mins.

West scoring some late trys to blow the score out , to be competive in this competion week in week out you must learn to go with the so called good sides when they start to up the anti , I think the boys proved on that performance that we can match any side ,but a game goes for 70 mins.

Awards went to
Simmi -Players Player
Hughie Grant - Best Forward
Jack Fitzgibbon - Best Back &
Kyle Ridgeway - The Coaches Award .

Looking ahead to play the Scorps who I've heard have recruited well and will be strong again , so we'll have to be on our game ,

Gillys Goss - Round 1 2013
